It is with great honor and joy that I announce the release of my poetry book, “Madness of Geography in My Veins”, translated into Japanese and published on Japan’s Culture Day, November 7. At the same time, the second edition of the anthology “World Poetry Against Censorship and Oppression: “No Jail Can Confine Your Poems” is now available to Japanese readers. These achievements would not have been possible without support of Japanese poets and the warm reception from Japanese readers, and I am deeply grateful to everyone who has joined me on this path.
The cultural and literary bond between Afghanistan and Japan, rooted in a longstanding friendship, holds a profound meaning in these times. While the Taliban have silenced poetry and art in Afghanistan, the support of Japanese poets and readers is not only a renewal of these old connections but also a symbol of solidarity in the face of oppression and censorship. Over the past two years, we have been striving to protect freedom of expression and combat censorship and repression, always believing that poetry and art can never be contained.
I am also delighted to share that in its first week of pre-sale, “Madness of Geography in My Veins” reached the third-best-selling rank on Amazon Japan. This warm reception signifies a deep cultural connection between us. I eagerly hope for the chance to once again read poetry in Japan and visit your beautiful, culture-loving country. Thank you for keeping the voice of freedom and art alive!
